I am currently running drawing / printmaking workshops and courses from my studio in Morecambe, as well as teaching occasionally with other organisations and venues.
My sessions aim to build confidence in your personal and instinctive approach to making work and open up the possibility of new ways of doing.
We will work with DIY printmaking processes using inexpensive materials and techniques that do not require a press. Expand on personal ways of mark making without pressure. Encourage playful and experimental approaches. Rethink and unlearn our ideas about drawing from life. Explore drawing from memory and imagination.
The workshops with Liz were an opportunity to explore my relationship with drawing and mark making. Not a typical image maker with pens, pencils and ink I hoped to redefine my own expectations around this to integrate it into my artistic practice. Liz delivered a series of workshops that enabled me to explore and expand how I approach my work armed with a new confidence and skillset. Clear, fun and well-structured workshops that gave space to play and learn in a way has sowed seeds for future work. With cake included!
I found Liz's workshops inspiring, refreshing, encouraging and well-organised. The printmaking is fun and quick, and is brilliant as finished works and also for 'under-printing' to draw or paint onto. The atmosphere is welcoming, relaxed and friendly. We worked in the studio from still life and our imagination, and also outdoors when the weather was kind. Wonderful home-made cake adds to the joy of the day! It is great to spend time with other artistic people, and see how others approach the same task.
